Updates to the Contingent Liabilities: FOI release

Information requested

The updates to the Contingent Liabilities schedule by the business areas listed as their responses leading to an update to the schedule in the response of FOI 202200272838.

Response

Please see attached excel ‘Redacted responses’ which contains the lines on the Contingent Liabilities schedule which were updated as part of the Contingent Liability Commission.

Note that these updates were provided at a point in time and will not therefore be an up to date position. The Scottish Government’s annual accounts, published on 16 December 2021, and annual accounts published by relevant bodies contain an annual update on contingent liabilities.

Please also note minor updates to the ‘Summary of commission response’ disclosed in response to previous FOI 202200272838 which has been updated to reflect i) National Records Scotland appeared twice and ii) South of Scotland Enterprise did not have any updates so the response has been updated to N/A to correctly reflect that.

Redactions to the ‘Redacted responses’ spreadsheet

Where a cell is highlighted in yellow is has been redacted on the basis of Section 38(1)(b) – Personal Information. All other redactions have been noted in comments within the excel.

Considerations were made as to whether the release of the information was in the public interests, particularly in relation to the financial reporting process. However, redactions applied where the information was commercially sensitive or its release would prejudice ongoing legal cases or financial interests.
