Correspondence regarding closure of McVities Tollcross: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

RFI 1: Any correspondence between the Government and Pladis (aka United Biscuits (UK) Limited, or McVities) in relation to the Tollcross plant.

RFI 2: Correspondence between the Government and the trades unions (GMB, Unite) related to the Tollcross plant.

RFI 3: Correspondence between the Government and members of the "Pladis Action Group" not already disclosed in RFI2. Membership of the Action Group is known to The Scottish Government, but at a minimum, I would expect this to include Clyde Gateway, Glasgow City Council, and Scottish Enterprise, along with the Trades Unions (GMB, Unite) and negotiators on behalf of the non-affiliated workers.

RFI 4: Copies of correspondence between the Government and relevant UK Government entities (for example, BEIS, Defra, and Insolvency Service) in relation to the Tollcross plant. This might, for example, be correspondence between the Cabinet Secretary and UK Government counterparts, or correspondence regarding re-training opportunities.

For the purpose of clarity - "correspondence" is defined in this context to be written correspondence (e.g. letters and emails), phone call read-outs, agenda / minute items, and any handout or pack related to meetings.

As the data for RFIs 1 and 2 has already been released up to 12 August 2021, the relevant period for those parts should cover the period of 12 August 2021 to today (30 July 2022).
