Response
Regarding point 1, there were no specific costs associated with the Chair of the Empire, Slavery & Scotland’s Museums (ESSM) Steering Group. The Chair did not request to be remunerated, and no expenses have been claimed by the Chair. Information on expenses in the Terms of Reference for the ESSM Steering Group is available on the following webpage: essm-steering-group-tor.pdf (museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk)
Regarding points 2 and 3, the Scottish Government has provided £159,000 in total for the ESSM project. A breakdown of the expenditure spent is shown in the table below. As the timeline for the project was extended by an additional six months, further funding was provided to account for staffing, as well as the inclusion of external evaluation for this work. The formal external evaluation for the project is expected to be published in September 2022. As Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) may hold further information, I would advise you to contact MGS directly at admin@museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk.
