A breakdown of the monthly headcount in the Constitutional Futures Division for each month from July 2020 to July 2022.
For each month, please also confirm how many staff were employed in the division at each pay grade level and also what the total wage cost of the division was for each month.
Please find attached a table detailing the monthly breakdown of staff within the Constitutional Futures Division (CFD) by grade.
The monthly headcount has been collected from monthly payroll reports from July 2021, when data for CFD began to be recorded separately.
Payroll reports are produced at the end of each month. Information relating to July 2022 was therefore not available at the time of your request. As we do not have information relating to July 2022, this is a formal notice under Section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.
Regarding the second part of your request, due to privacy considerations, we do not release salary figures where there is a risk that individual staff may be identified.
In this instance, we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. The salaries of individuals are personal data and disclosing them would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.
This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
