Small Business Research Initiatives (SBRI) funding: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

Details of funding provided by Scottish Government to Small Business Research Initiative for various projects in HEALTHCARE sector in last 10 years.

Response

Small Business Research Initiatives (SBRI) are managed primarily by respective NHS Health Boards, or Economic Development Agencies and information in relation to outcomes, successful applications, employment and deployment are held with those respective organisations. Records of funding disbursements and amounts have been attached to this response.

SBRIs within the health sector are hosted within the NHS Scotland infrastructure. Each individual health board is responsible for the management of their own SBRI pipeline. When funds have been made available by Scottish Government, these are transferred to the respective NHS Health Board to manage the SBRI within their own governance process and practices.

Life Sciences part funded two SBRI in the last 10 years, other partners included Health and Scottish Enterprise. The funds were transferred to health/Golden Jubilee. There are no papers on outcomes, the documents which would answer your questions could be found in health files. However to source these would exceed the cost limit associated with FOISA, I therefore give notice that this aspect of your request is refused in terms of Section 12 FOISA -the cost of compliance is estimated to exceed the set limit of £600.

The Dermatology SBRI competition, funding provided by the Scottish Government Health Directorate’s Delivering Outpatient Integration Together (DOIT) Programme and the Directorate for Economic Development’s Innovation Strategy and Life Sciences Team. The competition is being organised through NHS Scotland’s Open Innovation Collaboration Programme and the funding will be managed by the NHS Scotland National Innovation Fund.

I attached a copy of the list of SBRI part funded by Scottish Government.

You may wish to contact respective organisations, and as such I have provided some relevant links for you to do so.
