The briefing to the Cabinet Secretary SJHLG relating to the Ministerial Statement on Strengthened Fire Alarm Standards on 19/01/2022

• The details of the discussions with the ABI about the practises in the insurance industry
• The documentary evidence of the works/investigations done by civil servants checking the availability of devices, and assessment of the costs of the equipment.
• All other reports about care and repair allocation, expenditure, and installations

I have concluded that the original decision should be confirmed with modifications.

In your review request you highlight that you are not satisfied that all information requested has been supplied.

The statement made by the Cabinet Secretary on 19/01/22 was based on suggested responses to anticipated questions, which were drafted by officials on the morning of 19/01/22. In order to provide the Cabinet Secretary with the most up to date information, these responses were informed by online investigative work conducted by officials on 19/01/22 through use of publicly available internet search facilities and were communicated to lead policy advisors via telephone. A more detailed record of the searches and results was not retained.

In your review request you also state that you are not convinced all role titles in the information supplied in response to your original FOISA request required to be redacted under s38(1)(b.) We have found that the exemption was applied to some information incorrectly and have enclosed a correctly redacted version of the information.
