Information requested

1. Please provide an unredacted copy of the Lanarkshire Steelworks Soil and Groundwater Contamination Liability Assessment, prepared by Atkins for the Scottish Government on 22 April 2016 (please provide all the information redacted in the version available here: FOI202100216003+-+Information+released+2.pdf (www.gov.scot)).

2. Please provide an unredacted copy of (a) the section on assumed liabilities of the business purchase agreement in relation to the Dalzell steelworks and (b) clause 12.4 on the total aggregate liability (as opposed to the redacted versions set out in the response to freedom of information request FOI/202100212787, a review of FOI/202100203997).

3. Further to the response to written parliamentary question S6W-05310 on 27 January 2022, please provide information on how many (a) days, (b) hours and (c) minutes the Scottish Government owned the Dalzell and Clydebridge steelworks.

Response

I enclose details of some of the information you requested. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance certain information has been redacted under multiple sections of FOISA. Further information regarding these sections can be found in the annex of this letter.

For parts 1 and 2 of your request, the information you have requested has been redacted for the reason that its release could prejudice substantially the commercial interests of the company in current ownership and operation of the sites.

On the third part of your request, the Business Purchase Agreement and the Business Sale Agreement were completed at the same time.
