With regards to the A1 Reston Junction you asked "if you could let me know how many recorded accidents there have been at this junction and how much correspondence you have had expressing concerns about the Reston junction?"
On 17 January you amended the request and clarified that you would like "a list of known incidents/accidents at the junction of the A1 trunk road and the B6438 (entrance to Reston and access road to Coldingham). Dated from 01/01/2006 until present date 13/01/2022."
Please see Annex A to this response for a list of known accidents at the location you are interested in between 1 January 2006 and 7 September 2021.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Transport Scotland does not have some of the information you have requested. This is because we currently only hold data for accidents up to 7 September 2021.
This exemption is subject to the 'public interest test'. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption. We recognise that there is some public interest in accident information for the trunk road network. While we recognise that there may be some public interest in information regarding accident figures for the trunk road network, clearly we cannot provide information which we do not hold.
The Scottish Government is committed to publishing all information released in response to Freedom of Information requests. View all FOI responses at http://www.gov.scot/foi-responses.
