Cost of recruitment agencies for civil service jobs: FOI release

Information requested

Since 2010, the annual cost of hiring external recruitment firms for civil service jobs, broken down by directorate.

I'm looking for any spend on recruitment agencies by the Scottish Government, for the recruitment of any type of staff, temporary, permanent or otherwise.

We have interpreted your request in the following way.

Firstly, the cost of our temporary workers, which we recruit via recruitment agencies; and note that figures were are providing are the total cost of employing these workers. Secondly, the cost of using external recruitment firms in the search/recruitment process.

Unfortunately we are unable to breakdown these figures by directorate.Annex A refers to the spend on temporary recruitment workers by the Scottish Government from 2011 who are not employed by the Scottish Government. We don’t hold any data for 2010/11 and prior to this date. For 2020/21 this is not yet complete as we have not yet received and validated all of the final
quarter management information.

These figures are for our frameworks only and do not include any spend with any other suppliers as we have no visibility of any other agreement or spend that Core SG may have in place.
