Vessel monitoring system (VMS) data of vessels in a region in July 2021 : EIR release

Information requested

I require VMS data of all vessels that transited through the following area between 12:00 – 18:00 on the 2/7/2021 and again between 20:00 – 06:00 15/7/2021 into 16/7/2021.

Please provide details of the VMS reports received from vessels during the specified period in the specified area. The data supplied should show the Date and time of report, A unique Vessel identification, Latitude, Longitude, Course and Speed provided as an excel workbook.

Response

Please find attached Excel spreadsheet giving details you requested all bar the vessel identifier as requested we treat this as third party personal data Regulation. You should also be aware that this only includes vessels greater than 12 M vessels below 12 m currently do not require to have VMS.

11(2) – applicant has asked for personal data of a third party An exception under regulation 11(2) of the EIRs (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exception is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exception.
