Scottish Scallop Sector Working Group (SSSWG): EIR release

With reference to the Scottish Scallop Sector Working Group (SSSWG), you requested:

1. What the terms of reference including its remit are?

2. A list of members in the group?

3. How often the group has met since its establishment in 2019?

4. Has Scottish White Fish Producers Association scallop committee chair, John MacAlister, ever attended any SSSWG meetings and if so, when?

Response

1. The SSSWG was formed in recognition of the value of convening a species specific group to aid policy development for commercial scallop fisheries. The purpose and remit is to help drive forward our Modernisation of the Inshore Fleet Programme and also to facilitate partnership working between Marine Scotland and national scallop sector. Membership is restricted to fishing association representatives as well as frontline fishers from the sector, together with other relevant stakeholders. Recognising that consistency in attendance of fishers is difficult, the SSSWG shall encourage a rotating seat arrangement whereby a different active fisher can attend meetings.

2. We are unable to comply with this request as it relates to personal information and as such is considered an exception under EIR Regulation 11(2) where disclosing personal information would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.

3. The group has met 3 times since it was established.

4.
