Information requested

Any correspondence (emails, letters, whatsapp messages, texts, minutes of meetings, minutes of calls and/or otherwise) from/between/to civil servants and/or Special Advisers on the appropriate timing for an independence referendum to take place once the legislation for it would be passed in the next parliamentary term.

Response

Some of the information requested is enclosed in Annex A.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, exemptions under Section 29(1)(a) Formulation of Government Policy, Section 30(b)(ii) Free and Frank Provision of Views and 38(1)(b) (Personal Information) of FOISA applies to some of the information requested. The reasons why these exemptions apply are explained in Annex B.

Some of the information you have requested has already been released to you as part of previous FOI responses. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you.
