Information requested
"Please can you provide the following data for each of the past 5 years.
The number of (a) domestic and (b) international flights taken by staff in each of the last 5 years.
Please provide all information held relating to the above request, including but not exclusively all information held in the following formats: email, internal messaging, hardcopy, letter, file, report, graphic and publication.”
Response
1. I enclose a copy of the information you requested.
2. The tables contain information on numbers of flights taken by AiB staff. This information was sourced from information provided by the Scottish Government travel provider ‘Redfern’ (since 2016) and from financial records of all travel requests since 1 January 2015.
3. The answer to your question is contained in the following supporting information and Tables 1 and 2 below.
4. The tables show number of single flights with supporting information on how many of these were comprised of a return journey.
5. Domestic flights taken by AiB staff are predominantly to either London or Belfast to engage with UK Insolvency Services and Department for the Economy Northern Ireland respectively.
6. International flights have been taken mainly by AiB’s Executive Directors and all have been to attend International Association of Insolvency Regulator (IAIR) annual conferences, regional (Six Nations) meetings of IAIR and an UNCITRAL meeting.

AiB, in partnership with Trees for Life, has set up a corporate grove in the Caledonian Forest to help offset our carbon footprint and 600 trees have been planted. AiB intends to make future contributions to Trees for Life in a continued drive to offset our carbon footprint alongside other efforts to reduce our emissions.
