Correspondence concerning the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People: FOI review

Information requested

(a) The contents of any emails or letters to Jeane Freeman or Nicola Sturgeon in 2019 from doctors or nurses on the topic of the delays to the opening of the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

(b) The contents of any emails or letters to Jeane Freeman or Nicola Sturgeon in 2019 from parents of patients at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children on the topic of the delays to the opening of the new hospital.

Response

I have concluded that the original decision should be replaced. To explain why I have reached this decision, I will explain the searches I have carried out as part of the review of the original response you received.

I carried out a search of the systems used within the Scottish Government to handle correspondence and identified all correspondence received by First Minister and the Cabinet Secretary for which members of the team who are responsible for matters relating to the new hospital responded to within the timescale specified by your request. From those cases, I identified all those which related to the topic of the new hospital and whether the correspondent identified themselves as a doctor, nurse, or parent of a patient.Those searches identified a small number of correspondence cases relating to the new hospital where those criteria were apparent from the information given by the correspondent.

I enclose copies of those letters, and the responses to them, at Annex A.

There were two correspondents within the scope of your request, ‘A’ who wrote twice to the Scottish Government and ‘B’, who wrote once.
