You requested details in relation to 5G strategy.
Your request is nearly identical to FOI-18-03634 therefore most of the information you have requested is available from the Scottish Government website at https://www.gov.scot/publications/foi-18-03634/. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.
Questions 1.4 and 6 are slightly different. Please see responses in Annex A.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. The reasons why we don’t have the information are explained in the responses to your questions in the Annex to this letter
Annex A – Response to questions 1.4 and 6
1.4 If no, I request to know when you will be chairing a 5G strategy?
We will publish our 5G Strategy this summer, in which will put the foundations in place to support the development and deployment of 5G throughout Scotland.
6. Where do you have 3G and 4G systems in public spaces and public roads
The Scottish Government does not hold this information. Telecoms deployment in Scotland has been commercially led.
Whilst the Scottish Government does not collect data pertaining to commercial mobile coverage, the telecoms regulator, Ofcom, publishes this data on a quarterly basis in connection with their Connected Nations reporting.
The Scottish Government is committed to publishing all information released in response to Freedom of Information requests. View all FOI responses at http://www.gov.scot/foi-responses.
