The total annual spending on ferries 2017/18 and 2018 from 2018-date.

The total subsidy expenditure on ferries 2017/18 and 2018-date.

Response

In accordance with Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 (Section 70) (4) payments in respect of subsidies for ferry services and grants for infrastructure improvements are made by Transport Scotland.  Transport Scotland publish a report annually which details such payments. For your information, I detail the internet link to the most recent publication which includes the total annual spending on ferries from the start of the Financial Year, 1 April 2018, to 23 November 2018:-

I can advise that the total annual spend on ferries from 1 April 2018 to 23 November 2018 is £122,925m.

In addition, the total subsidy (i.e. grants paid to ferry operators) on ferries from 1 April 2018 to 23 November 2018 is £114,301m.
