Information requested

As part of the SIBSS, how much money has been provided by the U.K. Government to support the scheme?

Has the Scottish Government made any written requests to the UK Government in requesting further funding for SIBSS?

In response to the Infected Blood Inquiries chair Sir Brian Langstaffs letter calling for improved financial support, has the Scottish Government received any requests from the Cabinet Office to see if you would support any new payments?

And if so, where will this money found?

Response

The answers to your questions are:

  • £519,171.32 was received from the UK Government in 2017/18 in support of the Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme.  This payment was to contribute to funding for those who qualified for HIV payments.
  • The Scottish Government has not made any written requests to the UK Government for further funding for SIBSS.  However, it may do so in the future depending on the findings of the UK Inquiry.
  • No requests have been received by the Cabinet Office asking if the Scottish Government would support any new payments.
