Information on £1.5 million funding for offshore wind:

  • How much of this funding has been paid, and a breakdown of spend by project and date.

Response

The answer to your question is £1.5 million of the grant funding was paid to the Carbon Trust for the financial year 2017/2018. Of this sum, £1.2 million was spent on the Offshore Wind Accelerator programme and the remaining balance was split between the Carbon Trust’s Floating Wind Joint Industry Project and project management costs.

Reasons for not providing information

Section 33(1)(b) – commercial interests

An exemption under section 33(1)(b) of FOISA (commercial interests) applies to some of the information requested.  This exemption applies because disclosure of this particular information would, or would be likely to, prejudice substantially the commercial interests of the Carbon Trust and industry partners. Therefore, the specific project spend figures have been redacted from the information supplied.

This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
