Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Date received: 13 October 2018
Date responded: 12 November 2018
In your request you asked for the following information:
- How many employees went through the disciplinary process in the year 2017-18 and 18-19 to date?
- How many of these employees were fired?
- How many of these employees resigned since?
You have requested information for Scottish Government staff. Our response therefore covers staff who are subject to Scottish Government Main and Scottish Government Marine terms and conditions of employment and Senior Civil Servants in the organisations listed in Annex A.
Under the Scottish Government’s discipline policy, managers deal with minor misconduct as part of their day to day management responsibilities. As there is no requirement to report minor misconduct to Human Resources, information about these cases is not held centrally. Our response does not include cases dealt with by local line management.
Between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017, 38 members of staff were subject to disciplinary process. Between 1 January 2018 and 13 October 2018, 27 members of staff were subject to disciplinary process.
Of these 12 members of staff were dismissed and fewer than 5 resigned.
