Date received: 25 September 2018
Date responded: 12 October 2018
You asked for “I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information act:
- The number of breakdown calls received on your highways network broken down by month for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date.
- The number of vehicles recovered on your highways network, broken down by month for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date.
- The road on your highways network which received the highest number of breakdown calls in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date, and the number of calls received.”
For questions 1 and 3, please see the attached exel spreadsheet for details about calls made to the Traffic Scotland service in respect of breakdowns for the periods requested. Please note that not all breakdowns are reported via Traffic Scotland as motorists may contact breakdown services direct.
We are unable to provide information for question 2 about the number of vehicles recovered on the network as there are often occasions where breakdowns occur and Traffic Scotland are unaware of the recovery firm attending. Some information is held but this does not cover the entire network as requested and as such we do not hold the information in the format requested. Under the terms of section 17(1) of FOISA (information not held) we are not required to provide information we do not have.
