Date received: 20 July 2018
Date responded: 31 July 2018
Information requested
Diligences executed by Summary Warrant (council tax only) that Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) has issued in the Dundee City local authority for financial years 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance AiB does not have the information you have requested. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that AiB does not have the information you have requested.
AiB does not have the information you have asked for because AiB compiles and publishes diligence statistics based on information submitted by officers of court but does not issue Summary Warrants, other forms of warrant procedure or execute diligence itself. The information collected on diligence is also available by sheriffdom only rather than by local authority.
Based on the information submitted to AiB by officers of court and in the case of Dundee City, diligence statistics are available as part of Tayside, Central and Fife sheriffdom.
Council tax summary warrants issued in Tayside, Central and Fife sheriffdom between 2012-13 and 2016-17 are shown in the following table. Diligence statistics are unavailable for 2017-18 because they are still being processed and analysed to be made ready for dissemination. Diligence statistics for 2018-19 are also unavailable because they are still being collected.

From 1 February 2015, local authorities no longer have the ability to collect Community Charge debts. The 'Summary Warrant (council tax)' category will include diligences executed in respect of Community Charge debts before this date.
