Information requested

Information about the role of Road Safety Scotland in relation to Scotland's roads.

Response

Road Safety Scotland is part of Transport Scotland and our specific remit is relates to road safety learning and publicity. To this end, we have developed a suite of road safety learning resources for use – principally in nurseries and schools – for children and young people aged 3-18. We also develop social marketing campaigns to address the issues identified by Scotland's Road Safety Framework to 2020.

In terms of the actual road network, we have no responsibility at all. In Scotland, it is the roads authorities who have manage and maintain the network. If your concern relates to a trunk road(s), then Transport Scotland would be responsible; if a it is a local road(s) then it would be the local authority roads department – in your case, Scottish Borders Council.

I hope this clarifies Road Safety Scotland's role.
