FOI reference: FOI/18/01513
Date received: 25 May 2018
Date responded: 21 June 2018

Information requested

Were the flags flown over the years at SAH 100% in accordance with each applicable version of the protocol for that year i.e. were the flags flown in the year of version 22 different to those flown in the year of version 23?

Response

I can confirm that identical flags will be flown at SAH in 2018 as flown in 2017, in accordance with the Scottish Government guidance.

As set out in a previous response, there are occasions where we are asked to fly a particular flag to mark a one-off event. In that regard, the First Minister has agreed that the following flags would also be flown from St Andrew's House and Victoria Quay in 2018 only;

6th February - Suffragette Flag – to mark 100 years to the day of Royal Assent of the Act which gave women the right to vote. (St Andrew's House only)

31st March – Transgender Flag – to mark Transgender Visibility Day (St Andrew's House only)

16th April-20th April – Commonwealth Flag – to mark the United Kingdom hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (St Andrew's House and Victoria Quay)

24th April – Royal Banner – to mark the birth of Prince Louis of Cambridge (St Andrew's House)

18th June – Autistic Pride Flag – to mark Autistic Pride Day (St Andrews House)
