FOI reference: FOI/17/01773
Date received: 29 July 2017
Date responded: 29 August 2017

Information requested

On April 6 2017 and 22 June Jeane Freeman MSP wrote to the the DWP requesting or noting clarification of the powers available to the Scottish Governmemt, as detailed in this FOI response from the DWP.

I would request copies of this correspondence as the DWP cannot release this due to restrictions under the FOI Act which would prejudice relations between the Scottish and U.K. Government. However given that both letters from the DWP make references to Freeman's claims made it is in the public interest that these letters are seen and there would be no action in you publishing these letters which would prejudice relations between the Scottish and U.K. Government.

Response

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested in pdf format. In addition, I also enclose a letter sent from Jeane Freeman, Minister for Social Security, to Guy Opperman, Minister for Pensions and Financial Inclusion on 14 August 2017.
