Requirements for square mesh escapement panel

New sections inserted

AU/AUP – section 4.5.2

AO -  section 4.7.2

For the avoidance of doubt, when there is a requirement for a panel to be within so many meshes of the selvedge then for shorter nets where the panel stretches into the tapered part of the net then the maximum number of meshes to the selvidge will be measured at the rear end of the panel. This does not apply to panels that are within a straight section of net and the requirement for maximum number of meshes from the selvidge continues to apply. The definition of a taper is “tapered part of the net”  means the netting immediately in front of the codend or extension piece (if fitted) where the number of open meshes around the circumference of the net increases in a ratio not less than 4 meshes in circumference to every 5 meshes in the long axis of the net.

All panels must comply with the requirements in distance from the cod line and must be at least the length required. If you have any questions then please contact your local Marine Scotland Office.
