Find out more about being an EPC Approved Organisation.
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in Scotland are being reformed in October 2026 which means:
- a 3-rating system covering heat retention, heating system and energy costs
-
certificates will be valid for 5 years
-
stronger quality assurance through a new accreditation scheme
Opportunity to become an EPC Approved Organisation
We're opening applications in January 2026 for new entrants and existing approved organisations.
There are over 200,000 property transactions in Scotland requiring EPCs every year. Approved organisations play a vital role in Scotland's property market and net zero transition.
EPC assessors must be trained and qualified to deliver high-quality assessments that people trust.
Approved organisations handle:
-
member accreditation and registration
-
quality assurance and auditing
-
complaints procedures
-
professional standards oversight
Existing approved organisations must reapply to keep their status. There is no time limit on applications.
