Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
1. How many homes have been demolished and built on the sites of the former Red Road and Sighthill apartments from 2012 to today?
2. How many student accommodations have been built in Glasgow over the same period? Moreover, how many students have been accommodated?
3. How many homes in the Glasgow Region have been demolished alongside those that have been built from 2012 to today?
Response
In response to your first question, the Scottish Government is a partner in Transforming Communities: Glasgow and the data held on file is grouped by Transformational Regeneration Area (TRA).
In the Red Road/Barmulloch TRA 1,578 homes have been demolished since 2012 with 157 new build homes completed in the same period within the TRA. 2,421 homes have been demolished in the Sighthill TRA since 2012 with 252 new homes built by the end of March 2023.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. We are unable to provide answers to your questions about student accommodation and demolition and new build homes in the Glasgow Region as we do not routinely gather this information. However, you may wish to contact Glasgow City Council through their website who may be able to help you.
