Returns from the annual survey of all aquaculture production businesses in Scotland on Code of Practice containment measures.
Section 3 of the Aquaculture Code of Practice sets out rules on how to contain fish and prevent escapes when marine mammals are nearby (the "Code").
Each year all fish farm businesses (Aquaculture Production Businesses or APBs) must report to the Scottish Government on:
- measures used to keep marine mammals away (mandatory standard 5, Section 3.2)
- any marine mammals killed or injured accidentally, known as "bycatch" (mandatory standard 4, Section 3.2)
- use of Acoustic Deterrent Devices or ADDs (mandatory standard 8, Section 2.2)
We collect this information through an annual survey sent to all fish farm businesses in Scotland.
