Information requested
- The terms of reference of the Scottish Government's 20 MPH Task Force Group.
- The reporting timetable of the Scottish Government's 20 MPH Task Force Group.
- The meeting schedule/frequency of the Scottish Government's 20 MPH Task Force Group and whether its agendas and minutes of meetings are to be in the public domain or are to remain private and confidential.
- The Programme for Government commitment states “We will ensure all appropriate roads in built-up areas have a safer speed limit of 20 mph by 2025, forming a task group to plan the most effective route for implementation”. Can you confirm this objective and timescales remain as stated.

National Strategy for 20 mph Task Group Remit
The purpose of the task group is to lead on the delivery of the national strategy for 20 mph. The group will examine evidence and recommendations made available to them allowing for a formal agreement to be made across a range of areas.
This the group will (not limited to):
- Consider the proposed options to implement 20 mph speed limits as well as the pros and cons for each option, along with their own respective organisation
- Agree on the most appropriate route to implement 20 mph across Scotland
- Consider the financial implications across the proposed options
- Agree on an exception criteria for 30 mph roads
- Consider public consultation
- Agree the aim and outcomes of the strategy
- Recommend potential engineering and enforcement measures
- Identify implications for other policy and guidance documents
- Recommend an effective communications and marketing strategy post and pre implementation
- Recommend a range of evaluation and monitoring measures

The reporting timetable of the 20 mph Task Group falls under Section 17(1) Information not held.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Transport Scotland does not have the information you have requested because it has not been created for this group.
The meeting schedule/frequency of the 20 mph Task Group and meeting agenda and papers falls under Section 17(1) Information not held.
The meeting frequency is as and when required. In regards to the meeting agenda and papers, while our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Transport Scotland does not have the information you have requested as the development of the strategy, the agenda and minutes will not be published.
