A96 Dualling Hardmuir to Fochabers scheme

Preferred option to go on display

As part of the Scottish Government’s ambitious programme to dual the A96 from Inverness to Aberdeen by 2030, the preferred option for the Hardmuir to Fochabers scheme is to go on public display in December.

Starting on 4 December in Elgin the local community and road users will be able to view and comment on our proposals for this 28 mile section of the road.

Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity Michael Matheson said:

“We are continuing to progress our ambitious plans to dual the A96 between Inverness and Aberdeen by 2030, delivering around 88 miles of upgraded road.

“As part of that programme, we have been taking forward the route option assessment work to provide dual carriageway for the 28 mile section between Hardmuir and Fochabers.

“Following detailed assessment work and feedback received following public exhibitions and design updates, we are now able to present the preferred option for this scheme.

“We are keen to let locals and road users have their say and I would encourage anyone interested in our plans to come to the exhibitions next month and offer any comments.

“As the scheme is further progressed individuals, communities and businesses affected by the work will be kept fully informed and their vital feedback taken into account.”
