New Chair of Board at Ferguson Marine Port Glasgow
Chartered marine engineer appointed.
A chartered engineer with extensive experience across the marine sector is the new Chair of the Board at Ferguson Marine Port Glasgow (FMPG).
Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes confirmed the appointment of Duncan Anderson, who has worked for more than 40 years in shipbuilding, offshore operations and marine engineering.
He has been Interim Chair since November 2025, having joined the FMPG Board as a Non-Executive Director specialising in shipbuilding last March. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers.
Ms Forbes said:
“I am pleased to confirm the appointment of Duncan Anderson as Chair of Ferguson Marine.
“Duncan has demonstrated strong leadership, technical acumen and a practical understanding of complex shipbuilding operations. He is highly regarded by staff and management at the yard, having built constructive relationships with the workforce.
“His background and proven track record make him well-qualified to provide strategic direction and stability for Ferguson Marine at this critical stage. I am confident that he will deliver on the Scottish Government’s priorities of completing the Glen Rosa and securing a sustainable future for the shipyard and its workforce.”
Background
Mr Anderson will be paid in line with pay policy for board appointments.
Before joining FMPG, Mr Anderson served as Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Marine Services, a company with an in-house shipyard which builds self-propelled jack-up rigs for offshore operations. Under his leadership, the company expanded its fleet from four to 14 and was successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange. Other previous senior roles with towage and marine services firm Lamnalco, oil and gas shipping firm Gulf Offshore, and P&O Scottish Ferries means Mr Anderson has extensive commercial, technical and leadership experience across the marine sector.
