Cabinet to meet on the Isle of Arran

Local residents invited to join the discussion.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her Cabinet will meet on the Isle of Arran on Monday 27 August to celebrate the contribution rural and island communities make to the Scottish economy.

Cabinet Secretaries will take part in a full programme of events on Arran before a public discussion at Arran High School led by the First Minister.

The event is the latest in a series of more than 46 Cabinet meetings in towns and cities across Scotland, including Aberdeen, Alloa, Cupar, Dumfries, Cumnock, Inverness, Oban and Ullapool and is the first Island cabinet since the passage of the Scottish Government's Islands Act.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:

"This is an opportunity for me and my Cabinet to meet local residents, community groups and businesses on the Isle of Arran as we mark the Year of Young People.

"I would encourage everyone in the local community to attend our discussion at Arran High School and share your views on the key issues that matter to you.

"The Year of Young People 2018 is a global first and I look forward to meeting young people from the high school to hear about their achievements, talents and the issues that really matter to them.

"Of course people of all ages are welcome to attend the public meeting - this government is open and transparent and will take on board the thoughts and concerns of everyone living and working on Arran."

The public discussion will run from 14:00 to 15:30 at Arran High School, Lamlash, Isle of Arran, KA27 8NG.

Entry to the public discussion is free, but seats are limited and must be booked in advance.
