Schools: Included, engaged and involved part 2 guidance review - working group
Overview
This group was established in 2025 to support the refresh of national guidance on school exclusions, which is due to be complete in 2026.
The group will:
- ensure that the guidance effectively supports local authorities and schools to keep children and young people fully included, engaged and involved in their education whilst recognising there may be instances where a period of exclusion may be appropriate
- utilise evidence and expertise to identify key issues arising related to school exclusions and consider how these can be addressed
- identify areas which would benefit from additional information, clarification, expansion or streamlining
- engage with their wider networks to bring a breadth of perspectives and feedback
- support the Scottish Government to develop its communication strategy to support implementation
The group is chaired by the Scottish Government.
