Offshore Marine Protected Areas Fisheries Management Measures
Overview
This group was established in 2013 to support the development of fisheries management measures within offshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Scottish waters.
The group ensures that these measures are evidence-based, proportionate, and aligned with broader environmental and legislative objectives. This includes the interpretation and application of ecological evidence, advice on site condition and conservation objectives, and the consideration of potential socioeconomic impacts.
It also discusses wider policy considerations, such as consistency with national and international obligations, and stakeholder engagement.
