Kinship Care Strategic Advisory Group
Overview
The group was established in 2026 to support the delivery of Scotland's National Vision for Kinship Care. The group provides strategic advice to support the development and delivery of the national delivery plan for the Vision. It brings together expertise and the lived experience of kinship families to help turn the Vision into meaningful change for them.
Chaired by the Scottish Government, the group includes representatives from local government and third sector. The group will also be supported by the wider engagement with the kinship care community, including through the Kinship Care Network. This will provide opportunities for practitioners, third sector organisations, kinship carers and children and young people with experience of kinship care to share learning, provide feedback and help inform the work.
The remit of the group is to:
- provide strategic advice to support the development and delivery of the national delivery plan for Scotland's National Vision for Kinship Care
- help identify priorities and challenges, and monitor progress in delivering the commitments set out in the plan
- provide oversight of any short life working groups established to take forward specific actions within the delivery plan
- help ensure the voices and experiences of children, young people and kinship carers meaningfully inform implementation of the Vision
- champion the National Vision for Kinship Care and promote implementation within their organisations
