Foster Care Strategic Advisory Group
Overview
The group was set up in October 2026 to provide strategic oversight, advice and support to help carry out the Future of Foster Care programme.
The group supports our aim to:
- strengthen foster care in Scotland
- improve outcomes for children and young people
- help deliver Keeping The Promise
To help shape policy and implementation it brings together expertise from:
- local government
- fostering services
- representative organisations
- the third sector
- people with lived experience
The group will meet approximately every 6 to 8 weeks with extra meetings if needed. Meetings may be held online or in person and agendas and papers will be circulated before each meeting.
In line with our commitment to openness and stakeholder engagement, we'll normally publish meeting minutes, papers and key outputs.
The group may set up sub-groups or short-life working groups to take forward specific pieces of work and will run for the length of the Foster Care Delivery Plan.
The Scottish Government will review whether it should continue beyond that point.
