This document is part of a collection

This section presents data on the estimated number hours of Personal Care at Home provided per week.

Data on hours of care provided are only collected for Personal Care at Home, not for Care Home clients.

Age 65+

An average of 9.9 hours of FPC per week were estimated to have been provided to people aged 65 and over receiving Personal Care services at home in the last week of 2022-23 (across all Local Authorities apart from Glasgow City; please see the Missing Data section for more information).  This is a 3% increase from the 9.6 hours of care provided per client aged over 65 per week in the last week of 2021-22.

Age 18-64

An average of 20.4 hours of personal care per week were estimated to have been provided at home to 18 to 64 year olds in Local Authorities able to submit data in the last week of 2022-23 (all Local Authorities apart from Glasgow City and Scottish Borders; please see the Missing Data section for more information). This is a 3% increase from the 19.8 hours of FPC provided on average per week to clients aged 18-64 in the last week of 2021-22.

This means, on average, approximately twice as many hours of Personal Care at Home were provided per client per week to those aged 18-64 than to those aged 65+ in the last week of 2022-23.

Full data, including the total estimated number of hours of personal care provided in each Local Authority, are available in the accompanying tables.
