School uniform: consultation analysis

Analysis report on the responses we received to our consultation on school uniforms in Scotland.

Overview of responses to the consultation

The consultation asked for responses to five questions (see below). A total of 2,751 responses were received to this consultation. 2,670 responses were submitted by individuals whilst 81 were submitted by organisations. There were a wide range of organisations represented with responses from local authorities; individual schools; school uniform banks; anti-poverty campaign groups; the independent schools sector; school uniform suppliers; third sector organisations and pupil and parent councils.

All respondents were asked whether they wished their response to be published; to submit their response anonymously; or for their response to be anonymised in reporting. Prior to publication, all responses were moderated to ensure that they contained no inappropriate language or any information which could potentially identify individuals by name.

2,420 out of 2,751 respondents gave consent for their responses to be made public, with the remaining 333 respondents asking us that their responses were not published. Of the 81 responses we received from organisations, 71 provided consent to publish their responses. All published responses have been made available on the consultation hub on the Scottish Government's website.
