Details of specialism
I have a background in marine science, specifically in the field of marine mammal ecology. My past research interests focus on studying marine mammals in the field and collecting data on abundance, distribution and behaviour.
My role at Marine Scotland Science primarily involves the provision of advice to different marine mammal work streams within the Renewable Energy Environmental Advice (REEA) Group. These include licensing for marine renewable energy, marine spatial planning and marine conservation. I contribute to the identification of key knowledge gaps as part of the ScotMER initiative and support various different marine mammal research projects, including reviewing documents from the Marine Mammal Scientific Support Programme.
I also support the provision of benthic advice to Marine Policy and Planning, along with assisting the Offshore Energy Environmental Advice (OEEA) Group with casework relating to the oil and gas sector.
