Warning

This Fund closed to submissions of expressions of interest on 13 August 2022. You can view a list of successful projects.

Receiving funds

All HIS project funds will be paid in arrears and will operate on an accruals basis.

Future funding

Funding is available for 2022/23, dependent on which stream you apply for and how quickly due diligence is completed.

The Hydrogen Innovation Scheme is a £10 million capital funding stream of the Emerging Energy Technologies Fund, to be delivered over 4 years from 2022/23 – 2025/26.

Using additional funding

Additional funding through private investment

Other sources of funding can be accepted, but only one and not multiple.

Due to the diverse nature of projects and sources these need to comply with overall scheme guidelines which varies depending on the stream. This means that if it stipulates you can only have 50% subsidy intensity that means 50% from all public sources - not 50% from one source and 50% from another.

Additional funding from other government incentives

A successful application to the EETF would not prohibit future applications to other Scottish Government funds or initiatives.

The EETF is separate to any funding via UK Government's Net Zero Innovation Portfolio and/or Net Zero Hydrogen Fund and is complimentary to any funding received via these funds.
