Artificial Intelligence

In Wave 92, businesses were asked about their current use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The majority of businesses reported that they are not currently using artificial intelligence technologies (72.9%), but the most frequently reported AI technologies used by businesses were text generation using large language models (6.0%) and data processing using machine learning (5.7%).  

Current use of these AI technologies was most frequently reported by businesses in the Information and Communication industry sector, with 30.5% of businesses utilising text generation using large language models, and 24.9% using data processing using machine learning.

Businesses using AI technologies were also asked what they currently use these for. Overall, 29.2% of businesses reported using AI technologies to improve business operations – rising to 46.0% of businesses in the Information and Communication industry sector. An estimated 16.3% of businesses reported using AI technologies to provide, or personalise, products or services to customers, rising to 20.4% of businesses in the Information and Communication industry sector.
