Introduction

As members of the Open Government Partnership, we're working alongside governments from all over the world to open up government by committing to the values of openness, transparency, accountability and citizen participation.

We deliver our action plans by working closely with Civil Society. Our commitments are developed in collaboration with the public, and you can track our progress through the updates posted below. Our progress is overseen by the Open Government Steering Group – this meets several times a year, observers are welcome, and we publish the minutes of each meeting.

You can also keep up to date by reading our blog, following us on Twitter, and joining the Open Government Network.

Action plan 2021 to 2025: co-creation process

Our 2021 to 2025 Action Plan was developed in collaboration with civil society and the public. We ran an online Dialogue to crowdsource the public’s priorities on how the values of openness, transparency, accountability, and involving people in decisions that affect them should be applied to Scottish Government’s work. Democratic Society were then commissioned to run a series of public workshops on key themes during summer 2021, and created short films to raise awareness about Open Government in Scotland. You can read the outputs of each public workshop.

Action plan 2021 to 2025: milestones

Here are a list of milestones over the course of the four year action plan. Milestones will have been updated throughout the action plan. This ensures that progress is reflected and new actions are developed where required.
