Referendum Bill - Programme for Government 2012-13

The Scottish Government will introduce the Referendum Bill to make provision for a referendum to be held in 2014, to allow the people of Scotland to vote on the way Scotland is governed. 

It will include provisions for the date of the referendum, the franchise and the procedures to be followed.  It will provide for oversight arrangements to ensure that the Referendum is run to the highest international standards, in which the Electoral Commission and Electoral Management Board will be fully involved.
