Verity House Agreement - Assurance and Accountability

This document sets out the assurance and accountability approach local government and the Scottish Government will use to evidence progress towards our shared priorities, setting out the principles of the Verity House Agreement outcomes framework.

7. Application

Consensus remains that this work should be progressed in the next parliamentary session as a key building block of a strong working relationship between local and national government. Following the establishment of the new parliamentary session, officials will consider and agree:

  • a renewed agreement to the principles set out above, particularly in relation to definitions of assurance and accountability;
  • the next steps for implementing an outcomes framework; and
  • testing of this approach with partners, including Solace, to demonstrate a clearer articulation of how this will operate in practice.
