Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme and matched accommodation

According to data reported by COSLA and the Scottish Government, around 1,390 individuals had been matched with a host by the national matching service and arrived at their matched accommodation by 14 March 2023. Through the Scottish Government local authority survey collected between 11 January and 15 March 2023, local authorities reported that around 2,730 individuals had been matched with a host locally, and around 935 individuals had found an informal match by their own means after arriving in Scotland. Please note that the latter number may be an undercount due to lack of formal reporting on this type of match.

Combining the outcomes from the different types of matches available for displaced people from Ukraine sponsored by the Scottish Government, it can be assumed that around 5,055 individuals, have arrived at their matched accommodation in Scotland . A breakdown of completed matches by local authority can be found in the accompanying set of tables.

Additionally, cumulative figures reported by local authorities between 11 January and 15 March 2023 indicate that local authority teams are aware of at least 4,080 individuals (around 1,875 cases – e.g. families) arriving on visas sponsored by an individual sponsor that have arrived at their matched accommodation in Scotland.

Local authority teams reported that out of all the people that have been matched (arriving on any visa type: sponsored by the Scottish Government, Individuals or on Family Visa), around 2,420 people (around 1,120 cases) had been placed directly into social or council housing across Scotland, as reported between 11 January and 15 March 2023.
