UK innovation survey 2021: results for Scotland

Co-operation Arrangements

In Scotland, the proportion of broader innovators who had co-operation arrangements on innovation activities increased between 2016-2018 and 2018-2020 (from 42.3% to 55.6%). The UK saw a similar increase over this period (from 48.8% to 57.9%).

Figure 10: Suppliers of equipment, materials, services and software were the most common co-operation partners in both Scotland and the UK. This was the same for businesses of all sizes (Table 14).

Figure 11: When considering sources of information for innovation activities, the largest proportion of broader innovators ranked ‘within your business or enterprise group’ as of ‘high importance’. This was the same for businesses in Scotland and the UK.
