Tackling child poverty skills package - equality impact assessment

This impact assessment considers the potential impacts of a £22 million skills package, comprising RISE, TAF and a new FWDF. The package aims to help reduce child poverty by supporting people to gain skills, access education, and enter, sustain and progress in work.

The Scope of the EQIA

This EQIA sets out evidence and seeks to demonstrate the anticipated impact of the tackling child poverty skills package on protected characteristic groups. It also describes how this package has been developed through engagement with stakeholders in order to maximise positive impacts for target groups; address negative impacts and eliminate unlawful discrimination; advance equality of opportunity; and foster positive impacts and good relations between groups.

The package is intended to contribute to one of the key drivers of poverty reduction – increasing income from employment.

This EQIA builds on the evidence and stakeholder feedback included in the EQIA that has been carried out and published as part of the publication of the final child poverty delivery plan for 2026-31. The following section provides further information and evidence regarding the impacts on people with protected characteristics of the three elements of the skills package.
