6. Derelict and urban vacant land reclaimed or brought back into use

A total of 218 hectares (144 sites) were reclaimed or brought back into use since the previous survey. A further 87 hectares (35 sites) were removed from the register because they were naturalised.

Twenty-five per cent (or 55 hectares) of reused derelict and urban vacant land was brought into residential use. Twenty-four per cent (or 53 hectares) was reused for other general industrial purposes.

Private sector funding brought back 46 hectares into use. Public sector funding accounted for 9 hectares and mixed public and private funding was used for 13 hectares.
