Scottish Social Attitudes Survey 2025: Technical Report

Technical report supporting the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey 2025 core module and attitudes towards discrimination module.

2 The 2025 survey

The 2025 survey consisted of two versions that were asked of different respondents in order to retain a maximum survey length of 30 minutes, to minimise respondent burden. One of the versions contained questions on the following topics funded by the Scottish Government:

  • Attitudes towards discrimination
  • Attitudes towards government and public services (Core Module)

Additionally, three questions on attitudes towards the constitution in Scotland were separately funded by the Cabinet Office.

The other version of the survey contained two modules of questions funded by the ESRC: one collected as part of the International Social Surveys Project (ISSP) on digital technology and work and another funded by the University of Strathclyde on attitudes towards health inequalities.

Data from SSA 2025 will be deposited with the UK Data Archive in 2026. Separate programmes of reporting and dissemination are planned for each of the modules.
