Scottish Marine Recovery Fund: interim guidance

Interim guidance for offshore wind developers seeking information on the Scottish Marine Recovery Fund (MRF) prior to it becoming operational. The MRF will help to deliver a more streamlined process for securing compensation for adverse environmental effects of relevant offshore wind activities.

Referencing the Fund in consent applications

Until the Scottish MRF and Scotland’s portfolio of compensatory measures are operational, offshore wind developers will be expected to identify other appropriate measures to deliver the necessary compensation for their projects. However, if offshore wind developers with projects in Scottish waters are interested in addressing compensation requirements through the Scottish MRF when it becomes available, this should be discussed with the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate Licensing Operations Team (MD-LOT).

Offshore wind developers will be able to express their views on the application process for the Scottish MRF during a public consultation on the Scottish MRF to be launched in summer 2025.
